About This Book

Ten-year-old Sira has never gone to school; like her blind father, she begs for a living, while chanting religious verses, at traffic stops and near the Friday mosque. One day the beggar children are rounded up by the police, and she is sent to school. But she is not interested in school and leaves. Later she is trained as a seamstress, but regrets having left school.
