Jay Francis Norwalk was born in 1940 in New York City, New York. His parents were Edward Norwalk (1904-1975) and Christine Hennessey (1903-1972). His paternal grandparents were Jacob Maier Norwalk (1874-1931) and Dora Helperin (1879-1956). His paternal great grandparents were Icek Szymon Nowak (1848-1917), Ziesel Eilenberg (1849-ca.1912), Mordecai Z. Heilperin (1837-1889) and Eyga C. Kronenberg (1842-1922). Traces his paternal ancestry and relatives (and that of his cousin Alexandra Feld) in New York, Germany and Poland. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Poland, Russia, New York, Washington D.C., Florida, California and Israel. Many of their relatives were holocaust victims. Discusses the use of genetics in Jewish genealogical research.
