"Working paper uses extensive statistical data to describe labor market performance from a crisis period of 1980-85 to a recovery in 1986-89, and up to 1993. The balance is mixed: unemployment has ceased being cyclical and has become structural, informal employment is on the decline but is still significant, and workers have lost purchasing power due to inflation.
