About This Book

"What is a sorcerer? Is it really according to the collective imagination in black Africa, a person likely to do evil, fond of human flesh and having supernatural powers, allowing him for example to be changed into an animal or fly away? This novel is an answer to these questions. The author, a biology teacher was born and grew up in a village with deep-rooted traditions. Until the age of 14, he has only experienced this environment hostile to any change, an environment in which ghosts, spirits of the ancestors, deities, soul eaters would compete. His admission to secondary school did not prevent him to have a passion for initiations into his age group. In this fiction, through the story of the various steps of the initiation process of the neophyte Gnama, he opens p to use the incredible world of the men-lions, oncee the most fearsome secret societies of sorcerers in West Africa. During this learning process, the secrets of the transformation of men into animals and many other supernatural powers associated with black sorcerers, are revealed to him."--Page 4 of cover
