About This Book

Guaduas is a town in Colombia, in the Lower Magdalena Province department of Cundinamarca, about 117 km from Bogotá. It is an agricultural and tourist center of some importance with a population of about 33,000. Its name refers to a type of bamboo cane and this book is a study of the project of the Mamá Lulú farm in order to learn the vernacular construction techniques in bamboo. This gave rise to the Permaculture Seminar where the work carried out by Hernando Hincapié and his family, who through a community cooperative have done very interesting and powerful contructions using bamboo.
