Automotive painter

This analysis is directed at the automotive painter who refinishes motor vehicle bodies by sanding, spot filling, priming, conditioning & painting, drying or baking newly painted surfaces, and related activities. The analysis identifies tasks & sub-tasks performed by an automotive painter, arranged in blocks of distinct operations relevant to that occupation. These blocks include basic occupational skills, vehicle preparation, refinishing, pre-delivery quality assurance, and detailing. For each task, the document outlines the element of skill & knowledge that an individual must acquire to perform the task adequately, identifies any shifts or changes in technology that affect the task, lists tools & equipment required for the task, and indicates whether the task has been validated by each province & territory. The appendix includes a glossary, a list of tools & equipment used in the occupation, and a tabulation of the percentage of time a worker spends performing each block & task in a given year (by province/territory and for Canada as a whole).
