About This Book

A difficult read, written by an Internal Revenue Service employee of the day to raise funds for the monument to Judge Chisholm and to record the Massacre. The author pulls no punches but is obviously biased in favor of Chisholm. The book pulls no punches in describing the Massacre, the prevalence of the Klan, a hanging and the enmity in Kemper County at that time. It appears to be researched well as I followed the path of the monument and visited with a few residents of Kemper County. The Massacre is still quite vivid in their memory and is taught in their local school system. I have not read the edition listed but have ordered a copy. I read the original book given to me by my Uncle, John Wright Chisholm, Jr. Ph.D.
