How does one stay true to the principles of sustainable development and preserve a viable degree of open space while incoporating the multitude of human activities and demands common to urban centres? This is a collection of papers comparing the experiences, successes, failures, philosophies, policies, and approaches implemented in the metropolitan areas of Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia, and some Italian cities.
