Higher education general information survey (HEGIS), 1983

The Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS) XVIII was a package of several surveys, this survey contains data on fall college enrollments. The sampling universe consisted of institutions of higher education and their branches located in the United States and its outlying areas. Responses from 3,242 institutions are included in this collection. The data in the survey include such institutional characteristics as sex and predominant race of the student body, type of accreditation, type of calendar system, and total number of students. Also given are data on the highest level of course offerings and on selected major fields of study.
