One of the best-loved and most enduring members of New Zealand's acting community, Davina Whitehouse has enjoyed two dramatic careers. As a young RADA graduate she entered Britain's pre-war stage and screen industry, working alongside such theatrical legends as Noel Coward, Ivor Novello, Margaret Rutherford and John Gielgud. Then as an emigrant to post-war New Zealand, she became a leading light in this country's budding professional theatre, acting and producing for the stage, radio and film. Alongside her theatrical memories she shares the jobs and sorrows of her family life, including a gripping series of letters to her sister recounting the terrors of the Blitz.
