This volume is an account of Luis Vélez de Guevara's family and upbringing. It is a documental study that rectifies mistaken assumptions that for 100 years have grounded the historiography on Vélez de Guevara. Furthermore, the authors' study and transcription of 253 documents afford the first close-up view of Andalusian middle class life during the 1500s.
