Rgyud-bzhi

The theoretical and practical foundations of Tibetan medicine were originally set forth in this fundmental treatise entitled, The four tantras, but the full title translates as, The eight tantras of the secret oral teachings, the eight branches, the essence of the elixir of immortality. The text is divided into eight parts, or branches: the structure of the body; conception, development of the fetus, and childhood diseases; female diseases; diseases caused by evil spirits; trauma; poisoning; old age; and the strengthening of male potency.
