The understory

Story Easton thinks of herself as a failure and breaks into houses, where she accidentally runs into Cooper Payne one night. When Story decides to help Cooper and his mother, she finds that pain, loss, and regret are universal, and that people who meet by coincidence can come together in the perfect way to fix broken hearts, to move on in grief, to realize strength, and to grow up.
