About This Book
From the Preface: When this collection of Chinese Communist writings was first conceived, few such compilations of primary materials were available for the general reader. That situation changed rather markedly in the past year. What distinguishes this volume is its attempt to combine official Party documents with statements by ordinary Chinese and to sample the vast source material on specific categories of doctrine. These selections include some of the most significant statements by Mao Tse-tung, Liu Shaoch'i, Chou En-lai, Teng Hsiao-p'ing, and Lu Ting-yi as well as Central Committee directives, articles by lower-level Party members, and the Party and state constitutions.
