The destinies of whole generations are played at the roulette wheel of the decisions that the political elites take at the crucial moments in the history of their nation. The Great War is such a crossroads. Whether they bet right or wrong, the politicians of the time are the ones we think of when judging the past. We thus ignore the fate of many, on whose shoulders a country was supported and raised.
