About This Book

'Slag' is about women's rights, revolutionary feminism, girls' boarding schools, hysterical pregnancy, hockey and sex, in no particular order. David Hare sets his three characters at each other's throats, mouths, and occasionally feet, in an attempt to play off middle-of-the-bat public school tradition against the new ethic of sexual anarchy and freedom. 'Slag' premiered at the Hampstead Theatre Club, London, in April 1970.
