About This Book

Catalog of the exhibition comprising around 60 works by the noted artist, architect, scenographer and teacher Francisco Méndez Labbé (Chile 1922-2021), which gives an account of 70 years of work experience. With the curatorship of José de Nordenflycht, the exhibition reviews the artistic production of the architect who, without neglecting his discipline, devoted himself almost entirely to large-format painting, graphic work on paper (drawings, engravings and collages) and aesthetic writing, leaving a dozen books and showing how art and architecture are nourished and complemented. Likewise, through publications, photographs and audiovisual records, other artistic and cultural projects to which the artist dedicated himself are reviewed, such as the creation of costumes for plays; his renowned project for the Naval School of Valparaíso; his participation in the formation of the School of Architecture of the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso; and the implementation of the Murals Course of that city, which resulted in the Museo a Cielo Abierto.
