"Jack Warren" was a name used by Paul Little, aka A. de Granamour, Kenneth Harding, etc; Little also translated, and the foreword mentions the work of Jean Martinet, whom Little translated and reworked. First line: "In the province of Normandy, in the little resort village of Piemonieux, Lisette Joyaux was born and spent her girlhood."
