Old Testament Evangelistic Sermons

Of the 21 sermons in this volume, 15 are printed from the preacher's own handwritten copy and they all belong to the period of his first pastorate at Sandfields, Aberavon, in South Wales (1927-38). The remaining 6 sermons were preached at Westminster Chapel and taken down in shorthand. Evangelistic preaching must reach the heart and the conscience or it will fail. It has got to be personal and pointed, and awakening. It will need to have something alarming about it. Men have to be made to face the fact of their spiritual condition. Even in cold print this element will be found often in these pages and, sadly, it contrasts with much that goes for preaching today. - Introduction.
