Eugene and Ruby had met as small children, became best friends, and then lost touch when their families moved apart. Out of touch but not forgotten, they found each other again as young adults and fell in love. Together they would triumph over anything life threw at them. When Ruby is diagnosed with breast cancer they were in for the greatest challenge of all. A beautiful love story that captures the transition from ice boxes to refrigerators, horse farming to mechanized farming. A time when life was slower but certainly not easier.
