What I know (and the press isn't telling)

On the 10th of November 2007, a patient (and friend) of mine died in the late-postoperative period. A media circus ensued and the importance of that person to me, her family, and friends got lost in the parade of opportunists who crawled from under every conceivable rock to tell their story. The problem is that they were wrong. Even worse was that the press, in an effort to get the story first and get it exclusively, also got it wrong.
