About This Book
Memoirs of controversial surrealist painter Pedro Friedeberg (b. Italy 1936, lives and works in Mexico since 1939) narrates with humor and irony his life and artistic trajectory. Friedeberg studied architecture where he meet noted artist and architect Mathias Goeritz, who inspired him to follow a career in plastic arts in the Futurist and Constructivist movements, and the dada anti-art movement. He was a key participant of the "social art" movement of the 1960's and of the famous "optical art", movement of the 1970's in Mexico, a prolific period when the artist developed his abstract paintings with geometric forms that repeat to infinity, created his furniture, particularly his famous hand-chairs (considered his most transcendental work), and his vintage and mid-century modern sculptures. He finalizes his memoires with his own "10 Commandments."
