Forestry on private timberlands

Forestry is becoming recognized in this country as a specialized business just as farming is or any similar enterprise. It calls for the use of land for continuous production crops economically valuable species of trees, with attention to both volume and quantity.

The pictures in this publication show what some private timberland owners in various parts of the United States are doing to keep lands productive and are representative of that 20 percent of the privately owned forest area which the Forest Service has reported as being under some form of management.
