About This Book
This volume is dedicated to the phenomenon of "contrafacta" in different epochs and contexts. The focus is on music in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In addition to general considerations that address the complexity and complexity of the various phenomena of the contrafactum, several case studies shed light on specific aspects. The aim is to reflect critically on the complex topic, considering questions about the meaning, the objective and the effect of new texts in monophonic and polyphonic music. The contributions take into account both oral tradition and compositional practice, and approach the topic in an interdisciplinary manner.
