In 1850, over 1000 people were led from their homes in counties Wicklow and Wexford to start new lives in the American mid-west. This was no blind flight from famine, but an organized attempt to start an Irish Catholic Colony in Arkansas. This book follows the group's progress from their departure in Ireland to their brief stay in Liverpool and the Atlantic voyage.
