The novels of Chrétien de Troyes have caused many rewrites. From the thirteenth to the fifteenth century, several novelists took up the fabric of the Champenois surpassing the writing in verse and adopting a prose script judged better guarantor of the veracity and likelihood of history. The versions are competing, mixing different styles and different strategies and celebrating a phenomenon that flourishes especially in Lancelot's prose, intertwining.
