Jerry Hazzard became a National Instructor of Underwater Swimming in 1966 and a BSAC First Class Diver in 1967. He has been the BSAC's Director of Coaching since 1972, is a PADI instructor (USA), and has been appointed to the International College of Instructors of the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques.
