About This Book
It was first published in 1848. Copies of this edition are available on Google Books. A 'second edition' was published in 1850. The lexicon in the 'second edition' is the same as the first edition. The book itself contains Tables of Paradigms with grammatical comments for both the Hebrew and the Chaldee (the Aramaic of the Hebrew Bible), followed by a lexicon that contains every word in the Hebrew Bible in the form that it is found in the Hebrew Bible. Each of these words is listed alphabetically with its grammatical analysis and the root from which it came. The roots are also included in the alphabetical order and these entries provide the meanings of both the root and its derivatives. For any student of Hebrew who still likes hard copy books this is a very helpful resource, because it makes finding a Hebrew root very easy. The actual meanings for the words provided by Davidson come mostly from the work of Gesenius, although Davidson also used the lexicons of Lee, Winer, Biesenthal, Fürst and others.
