About This Book
Book and author information. Poetry written by Luis Carlos Flores Mateos S.J. He lived in Guadalajara Jal, Mexico and was a teacher at the Instituto de Ciencias; later he was director of the Seminary in Merida, Yuc, Mexico, which he used to call "mi Merida Blanca". Friendly, mellow and blessed extraordinary human being, he left his "fancy position” to go and dedicate his life to live with the "colonos" at Maria’s Island (Mexican prison for dangerous criminals)
He kept writing his poetry and years later suffered from cancer. He died in Guadalajara, Jal in 1999. His books are colorful; he has happy, profound, and reflective poetry and sad histories from his life experiences. His Books “Para los niños ajenos” and “Cantarcillos de Merida” are light fresh and funny, filled with tender lines of love and compassion for children and short reflection of daily life.
In 1981 his book “Hombre en su Tiempo”, is a reflection of his intense experiences with the prisoners’, as well as “Voces tras las Rejas” one of his last books published.
A real treasure, exquisite poetry. Honor a quien honor merece…
Con admiracion y carino, Tu sobrina
