The International Conference on the Application of Vaccines Against Viral, Rickettsial, and Bacterial Diseases of Man, held at PAHO Headquarters in December 1970, maintained a continuity with the 1966 Conference by updating a great number of topics common to both. The present one, however, has a broader scope and a somewhat different emphasis. It includes the bacterial and the degenerative diseases, and while not neglecting research, is more concerned with the application of existing vaccines. The contents were programmed to present the broadest spectrum of knowledge on the subject applicable to both the developing and the developed countries. - Preface.
