About This Book
the man who wrote this book went by the business name of vince stanger. he was a vice-president of m&p transport, head office in edmonton alberta, and he worked out of the toronto office and freight terminal on indian line rd (possible mississauga ont, not sure). before working for m&p he was with fruehauf trailers as an executive in mississauga ontario. he had an ongoing battle with the CN railway over what he called the re-creation of the transportation monoply. CN were piggy-backing trailers and this was eroding the long haul freight business M&P were in. m& p were a long haul trucking company that had terminals in toronto (mississauga), hamilton ontario and in alberta in calgary and edmonton, about 1962. he went to court over the issue and also a dispute with CN over the issue of company logos. His was a maple leaf with M&P in the middle while CN's was the same with CN in the middle. I believe he ultimately won the logo battle and CN subsequently changed their logo but he lost the court battle over the re-creation of the transportqation monopoly. It is only a guess but I think Vince would have been born somewhere about 1920. I know he was of the Jewish faith and was married as I drove his wife's new Chevy Nova home from Perkins Motors (where the company had just bought 6 new V-12 GM truck tractors)in about 1962. ultimately m&p some years later folded their Ontario business but continued out west hauling freight.
