About This Book
This book follows the history of some of the male descendants of Gabriel Guignard (1708-1757), a French Huguenot who immigrated to Charleston, South Carolina, in the early 1700's. By his second wife he had four children, three daughters and one son. His son, John Gabriel Guignard (1751-1822) moved from Charleston to Columbia, South Carolina. He became a successful merchant and businessman. John's son James Sanders Guignard (1780-1856) also became a successful planter and businessman. Succeeding generations produced prominent physicians, lawyers and businessmen in South Carolina.
