About This Book

Articles documenting the burgeoning growth of knowledge about clinical neuroanatomy in the latter part of the 19th century. The papers included in this collection were written between 1855 and 1911, and concern patients who had lesions of the brain stem, the region between the brain itself and the spinal cord. Each chapter is preceded by the editor's comment on the syndrome itself, and a description of the anatomy of the lesion. This is followed by a discussion of the paper itself in terms of its historical significance.
