About This Book

The project to create the Academia de Guerra del Ejército of Ecuador was consolidated in 1923 during the government of Dr. José Luis Tamayo with the advice of the Italian Military Mission. One of the fundamental objectives was to train and perfect the officers in the degrees of seniors and lieutenant colonels of the Army through the courses of the General Staff. Thanks to the academic support of Italian military instructors in the teaching and dissemination of the doctrine known as the Art of War, the officers of the Ecuadorian Army were strengthened and trained. This research analyzes the contribution of the Italian Military Mission during the years 1920-1940 and describes how students acquired competencies to perform tasks of commanders of military deals and serve as members of the General Staff in military units deployed throughout the national territory; in its tasks the regulation and the curriculum developed by the Italian officers were complied with to regulate the operation of the Academia de Guerra del Ejército.
