About This Book

**The European Authors of Treatises and their Repercussion in New Spain (The Architecture in the 16th Century)**

The theme was developed in two parts, of which the first one, The European Authors of Treatises, deals with the situation of books on architecture edited during the 15th, 16th and 18th centuries in Europe, touching also the first efforts in theorizing architecture during Antiquity and the Middle Ages, thereby achieving an overall vision of architectural theory, written in Spanish but parting from a bibliography published mostly in foreign languages.

In the second part, The Repercussion in New Spain, the author tried to corroborate the influence of theoretical texts imported from the metropolis to the colony of the 16th century in view of the circulation of books on architecture, training of the masters and the dates of constructions of the buildings selected.
The division in two sections is due to the title, because thus it resulted to be easier to deal with the topic in a clear and orderly way, as being justified by achieving the objective proposed.
