Lewis Rome arrived in America in 1882, and married Julia Lavien. They moved to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where there were only 7 other Jewish families. They were the parents of 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls, eleven of whom grew to maturity. Their descendants lived in Massachusetts, New York, Washington, California and elsewhere.
