About This Book

This book is about the only Diocletian emperor to rule over the Roman city of Philadelphia, the city that today is known as Amman. The book focuses on six men: Maximilian, who is a leader; his friend Telmica, who is the Diocletian emperor's physician ; and another friend Yvonius, who is a senior officer. The three men hide their beliefs and are at the same time saddened by the way the people who follow the faith of Prophet Isa (Jesus) are treated under Roman rule. The three friends escape from the empire with three other men named Dionysius, Sodinanus, and Martnos. They are helped along the way by a shepherd named Antonius. Eventually, the seven men, along with their dog named Kitmea, end up in a cave where they live for more than 300 years. The story of these seven men and their dog is mentioned in the 18th chapter of the Qur'an called Al-Kahf (The Cave). [ASC Leiden abstract]
