Sixteen-year-old Carrie Miller has come to act as midwife to her aunt in a remote part of the Wyoming Territory. Having learned birthing by assisting her mother, Carrie is now on her own in a wilderness full of dangers. With medical help beyond reach, Carrie is challenged to heal, to comfort and to save lives.
