Feasibility of a next-generation, intermodal rail-truck transport system for the western I-80 corridor

Heavy truck use is expected to double in fifteen years over the Wyoming and Nebraska portion of the I-80 corridor. The study evaluates alternatives to repaving the interstate highway for the increased traffic volume. The alternatives included: material changes, additional capacity, and diverting truck cargo to railroads.
