Philosophical issues in education

The philosophy of education is an important component of most education courses. In recent years the subject has separated itself out into two traditions, one emphasizing the use of analytic philosophy, the other engaging in radical social criticism. This book brings together the strengths of both traditions and takes stock of the debate. Throughout the discussion is rigorously analytical, yet, at the same time, the study goes beyond consideration of the narrow range of topics on which radical writers have focused attention. It thus provides a new introduction to all the major philosophical issues in education which is different to existing competing works on the subject.
