Juan Kalb, in the last years of his existence, managed to gather one of the most valuable collections of books and images of European travelers conserved in Colombia. It is, in its majority, comprised of first editions, who are complete and in a extraordinary state of conservation. "The exhibition presents for the first time, pieces obtained by Johann Friedrich Kalb (1928-2015) throughout many years dedicated to collecting. Known in Colombia as Juan Kalb, this Hamburg merchant came to the Americas in the early 1950's to devote himself to the coffee business. It is not fortuitous that Kalb came to the country at this time because, after the end of the II World War, an important process of restoration and creation of commercial ties with Latin American countries commenced in the newly constituted Federal Germany"--Page 16.
