Thiago Martins de Melo

First monographic book dedicated to the artist Thiago Martins de Melo (São Luís, State of Maranhão, Brazil, 1981), comprising works from 2010 to 2019, plus five unpublished critical texts. With works of various phases, vibrant colors and strong scenes, Thiago seeks to represent the oppressions of Brazilian minorities that occur from the 19th century to the present day. His paintings are loaded with symbolic layers such as sexuality, social unrest, spiritual entities on battlefields, political upheavals and autobiographical scenes of his life with public events in the history of Brazil.
