About This Book
Epistolary novel about the Germans ruling Ireland during War World I, written as a warning to Irish citizens who might be sympathetic with the Germans. It was first published in a Cork newspaper in 1916 and in book form in 1917. Although published anonymously, novelist Mary Carbery acknowledged in 1937 that she was the author. Cf. Joachim Fischer's "A future Ireland under German rule: Dystopias as propaganda during World War I (Utopian studies, June 2007)
