Abstract: The chapters in this book represent papers presented at the First International Conference on the Modulation and Mediation of Cancer by Vitamins held in Tucson, Arizona in 1982. The authors are from the sciences of cell biology, biochemistry, nutrition, epidemiology and oncoogy. Both prevention and treatment of cancer using vitamins are explored, and the results of clinical trials are presented. The vitamins investigated were: vitamin A and carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin D and vitamin K. Most of the studies involved animals or animal tissues. The prospective clinical trials used vitamin A or its synthetic derivations for cancer treatment. (as).
