結核という文化

Tuberculosis has existed since ancient times in the history of man, with traces found in both the Old and New World. This old disease suddenly became symbolic in the 19th and early 20th centuries. While introducing the examples from all ages and countries, the author tries to construct an innovative cultural history from the viewpoint of the disease.
