About This Book

The Residential Complex El Parque, known as the Torres del Parque, is a project designed and conceived by Rogelio Salmona Rogelio Salmona (Paris, 1927-Bogotaþ, 2007) during the 1960s in Bogotá. In this building, the concerns and obsessions of this architect are condensed, cultivated in his deep knowledge of the history of architecture, and learnings acquired in his work and academic experience, in the trips undertaken, as well as in the divergent routes suggested by two antagonistic protagonists of the twentieth century: architect Le Corbusier and the sociologist of art Pierre Francastel. The book is about what we do not know behind the history of these towers and reveals the profound reasons why this early work by Salmona has been recognized as the icon of the city in the 21st century - and one of the most significant in Latin America during the 20th century.
