Transformation of scientists and engineers into managers

"A critical problem facing every organization is how to make managers from people who are specialists. The purposes of ths research were (1) to determine the principal problems and obstacles faced by specialists during the transition period when they are becoming managers, and (2) to discover ways by which their difficulties might be avoided or overcome. Because the report deals with a subject that has considerable impact on good management of public institutions, especially those in the research and development environment, NASA management is issuing it as a Special Publication to achieve wide distribution and availability."--Page iii, 1.
