The bionomics and taxonomy of the larval mycetophilidae and other fungicolous diptera

A comprehensive account is given of the association of larval Diptera with macrofungi in S-E England. Over 100 species of Diptera, spanning 23 families, were reared from fungi. The affinity of different species of Diptera for fungi were evaluated. An account of the life-history of Bolitophila hybrida (Meigen) is presented. The study places particular emphasis on the morphology and taxonomy of larval Mycetophilidae. Many species are described and identification keys constructed to genera and species, wherever possible, following the reliable pattern set down by Lastovka (1971); all descriptions and keys are fully illustrated.
