The Middle East after the cold war

The 1994 proceedings reviewing trends in Middle Eastern affairs after the Cold War and generally agreeing on the central point that the region adapted to political shifts rather than being affected by them. The eight papers, two roundtable discussions, and summary explore the region's most topical themes through the thoughts and ideas of Arab, Israeli, US, and European scholars, covering topics in the relationship between the US and the Middle East, developments in the Persian Gulf and Central Asia, Islamic influences on contemporary Middle East politics, the viability of Arab states and regimes, and weapons proliferation.
