About This Book

"Blobs are tinkerers, taking the material of the everyday and brushing it against the grain. Blobs find new and intuitive ways to interact with each other as well as the objects in their world. Their ambiguity- in emotion, action, even location in space- invites play and celebrates confusion over knowing. blobs seek to sustain a multiplicity of meaning, rather then center a fixed reading"--Artist's website.

Hannah Coleman’s blobs lounge and slouch around, frowning as they putter with an array of objects varying from common household items like mirrors, curtains and a mattress to pool tubes, flamingos and pretzels. Blobs Feeling Things is a quarter-size risograph illustration zine with blue linework and neon pink and lime green fill-ins, binded with purple staples. As further explained on Coleman’s website, the rendition of her blobs’ mouths within this zine and her previous work are reminiscent of the Sambo cartoon, a racist minstrel character. The artist provides an apology on her website, has since ceased illustrating characters in this way and no longer circulates publications wherein her characters contain this feature. -- Claudia
